I am a proud 1990 graduate of Tulsa Public Schools. In 1995, I graduated from the University of Oklahoma in Norman with a B.S. in Special Education. Shortly after (2000) I completed a Master’s Degree in Guidance and Counseling from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond.
B.S. Special Education (PK-12)
M.E. Guidance and Counseling
I am a member of the Oklahoma School Counselor Association, American School Counselor Association, Oklahoma Education Association, and National Education Association.
I am entering my 13th year at Grove Upper Elementary School. In the Fall of 2004, I began teaching 4th grade special education classes and continued until I was offered the School Counseling position in 2006. Since 2006, I have been the Upper Elementary Counselor. For a few years, I also split my time with the Early Childhood Center as their counselor. Currently I serve over 550 students in grades 4,5,and 6.
I have been in public education for 22 years. I began teaching in the Fall of 1995, where I taught in Norman, OK. I spent 9 years at a middle school. For five of those years, I served as a special education teacher, Special Olympics coordinator and transition service director. During the remaining four years, I was the school counselor for over 300 6th grade students. Norman Public Schools instilled my work ethic, professionalism and commitment to students that I continue to have in Grove.
I met my husband while attending the University of Oklahoma in Norman. We were married in July of 1995 and have two children, one dog, one cat, and three fish. My children are both freshman: My son will be attending OSU in Stillwater this fall, and my daughter will be attending Grove High School.
When I am not doing school related activities, I enjoy reading, walking, and traveling. I also enjoy mindless television...especially reality shows.
